Abiy Ahmed in Somalia for bilateral talks

A day after hosting United Arab Emirates Crown prince, Prime minister Abiy Ahmed traveled to Somalia where he held talks with president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed (‘Farmaajo’). He was received warmly by the president up on arrival atAden Adde International Airport (Mogadishu International Airport)

The prime minister reportedly discussed regional security and the relations between the two countries and is said to have shared with the president of Somalia his vision about bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Somalia according to sources close to the prime minister.

Chief of staff in the Office of the prime minister, Fitsum Arega, tweeted the following :

    “The conflict in Somalia feeds into& in turn feeds off other conflicts. In #Mogadishu, PM Dr Abiy outlined his vision for a new chapter in #Ethio-#Somalia relations. A vision of a single market—where the two nations are tied together with a shared purpose & respect to one another.”

“Nothing can divide our two brotherly nations” said Somalian president.

Somalia was opposing Ethiopian acquisition of share from a port in Somaliland.
